why do I even wonder?

OK, I am starting to question ordering clothes and stuff from the more "upscale" online merchants even though my reasons are *pure* (I am often short on time to go shopping and I want quality that last through 3 hand-me-downs, LOL!)

Yesterday I got an offer in the mail for a new parenting magazine. The header states, "It's nothing but the best for your little one, and you'll find it in (publication name) - the new magazine created for the world's most sophisticated parents." and the first sentence of the "Dear Parent" letter says, "You enjoy the best in life for yourself, and you want the same for your children."

UGH!

But why do I have a latent pull toward *wanting* to go there?

Hi Sandy! I've missed you! I was in your neck of the woods yesterday with high hopes of finding your house again, but life got in the way : (

I understand this dilemma. I'm super practical, and I don't want my kids to be billboards for any clothing company. I also don't want to live vicariously through them (my mom sewed our underwear...bless her heart...and I almost died of jealousy of the other girls in store-bought clothing in jr high). On the other hand, there is something to be said for buying something that will last three washings, let alone three kids!

My suggestion....buy on ebay....you won't spend as much but you can still get some good quality stuff.

I like good quality stuff for myself too, but I almost never buy new. I never have. When I was old enough to buy my own stuff with babysitting money, I bought high end stuff from the Salvation Army. It drove my dad nuts, but it's become my own business now.

It's not wrong to like quality. I think it is an aspect of our being in the image of God. Can you imagine God being drawn to the tchochkies in the dollar store?

Hey Ness!

I have been really busy, I didn't mean to wait so long to post back. Sorry you had trouble finding me. YOu would have been most welcome...and remember I am standing by to babysit while you do lunch with Robb!

My Nana sewed for us though about 6th grade. Before that. all we could wear to school was dresses, so she could make cool dresses...oh and double knits were "in" but once we got into the radical late 60's to early 70's...I wanted denim bell-bottoms!

MY Andrea and you would sure have fun trading salvation Army shopping stories. She began doing SA and Goodwill at about 13...I took her and that was where she got all her stuff...her choice:D

Nah, I wouldn't be cussing. I do have a hard time pointing out positive things about the UofA and so I often need a place to vent.

Yeah, UofA might be cheaper than a lot of the places, but I really get upset over financial situations because the UofA's carelessness. I've been through several advisors who I'd rather not talk to ever again. Plus, there's a lot of things we are paying for that we shouldn't be. Ultimately, I just think I got my money's worth, not at all. And that's scary, because the real world doesn't know any better.
